SAJC vs. RJC
After 17 years, SA finally made it into the finals for rugby. And yes! We definitely yanked this golden oppurtinty, and outplay RJC to 15-10.
The experience to be in the crowd as a fellow saint is indeed overwhelming. That effervescence when the ruggers had the rugby ball in their posession, followed by that stretch of our vocal chords to the limits. That anxiety inside us while waiting for our ruggers to kick that rugby ball to pass through that goal post. That frustration at RJ's no. 6, 11 and 8 jerks. They definitely need some anger management lessons. And oh! Who can forget that RJ's no. 20 loser!!!
It was the funniest thing that happened. Apparently, some time in the game, the umpire blew his whistle furiously due to some fouls, or whatever. I still do not understand some going- ons in rugby. Anyway, back to the story. The reverberation of the tiny whistle definitely got drowned amidst the boisterous crowd. So poor no. 20 did not hear it, and continued to storm across the field with much hope to make an effortless touchdown. I wonder why it did not occur to him as to why nobody is tackling him. Oh wells, he even made an... I should say amiable touchdown as he dive with the ball to touch that line. Haha. Only to realise that he had a made a fool of himself with the rest of the ruggers at the other end of the field waiting for him to come back to continue the game. ROFL.
Anyway, the breathtaking part was in the last few minutes when we were tied with RJC, 10-10. Oh! How those big built RJ's ruggers pushing our ruggers who are just inches away from that touchdown line. That was very very very exhilarating.
And to sing the school song with such merry after the victory was just so pleasant.
